Backlash Beer launched back in late July of 2011 with the debut of their first beer, Groundswell – a Belgian blond ale. Since then, the company (Helder Pimentel and Maggie Foley) has been keeping busy. The duo released two more styles: Convergence — a Super Saison (available again in June 2012), and Declaration – a Belgian IPA, which due to its great success also became Backlash’s first year-round offering.
Having just signed on with the Massachusetts Beverage Alliance, Backlash is now available state wide and will next be re-releasing Groundswell just in time for the warm summer months. The beer has been overhauled to be slightly lighter, more crisp and now features the use of organic lemon peel for an extra bit of tartness. Groundswell should be on shelves and on tap statewide the first week in May.
Backlash will be teaming up with Area Four in Kendall Square on the 9th of May to celebrate the re-release of Groundswell, and all are welcome to join. You can sample both Declaration and Groundswell at the American Craft Beer Fest on June 1st and 2nd. Backlash will also be participating in the Drink Craft Beer Summer fest July 13th and 14th where they will be pouring all three of their beers.
