MBG Board Openings

Help Shape the Future
of Massachusetts Craft Beer

The Mass Brewers Guild (MBG) is growing our leadership team. As JP Gallagher (co-owner and head brewer, Lost Shoe Brewing & Roasting Co.) and Caleb Hiladis (Operations Director, Amherst Brewing Co.) run for their final two-year term, we are planning to expand the board from seven to nine seats in 2026 to support strong succession and continuity. This December, MBG’s paid brewery members will vote to fill four open board seats—and we’re seeking thoughtful, motivated leaders to step up.

Why serve?

The MBG board of directors plays a crucial role in advancing our mission: protecting and promoting the interests of Massachusetts craft brewers. This is more than an advisory role—board members actively contribute their time, expertise, and resources to drive the Guild’s objectives. With one full-time staff member, board engagement is essential: members typically dedicate 5–12 hours per month to initiatives that strengthen and unite our craft brewing community.

Who should apply?

We welcome candidates from across the Commonwealth—brewery owners and staff alike—who are already engaged with MBG programs and visible within the Massachusetts craft beer community. We’re especially focused on diversifying the board to reflect a broad range of geographies, experiences, and skill sets (law, marketing, event planning, government affairs, DEI, HR, operations, and beyond).

Board expectations

MBG board members serve as ambassadors of the Guild’s values and mission. Directors are expected to:

  • Act as spokespeople for the Guild within the community.

  • Attend and actively participate in bi-monthly board meetings and committee work.

  • Engage with MBG events, initiatives, and legislative efforts, offering feedback and insight.

  • Lead or serve on at least one committee: Government Affairs, Education, Membership, Marketing, or Events/Fundraising.

  • Support the financial and operational health of the Guild, representing all members statewide.

Key Dates

  • Application deadline: Monday, November 10, 2025

  • Candidate presentations: Winter Member Meetup — Monday, December 8, 2025 at Clover Road Brewing Co. (Ashland)

  • Voting: December 2025 (by paid MBG brewery members)

How to Apply

Submit the following to MBG Executive Director Katie Stinchon at Katie@massbrewersguild.org by November 10, 2025:

  1. Resume

  2. Letter of intent outlining your vision for the Guild and the initiatives you’d champion, and addressing:

    • Why do you want to join the MBG board of directors?

    • How much time can you realistically dedicate each month?

    • Which committee would you like to contribute to?

    • What major issues would you like to address, and how would you approach them?

Not ready to run this year? Start getting involved now—many current board members are nearing the end of their terms, and future leadership opportunities are on the horizon.

Ready to lead?

Send your resume and letter of intent to Katie@massbrewersguild.org by November 10, 2025, and plan to deliver your stump speech at the Winter Member Meetup on December 8, 2025 at Clover Road Brewing Co. For questions about responsibilities or current initiatives, reach out to Katie directly.
