Help Shape the Future of Massachusetts Craft Beer: MBG Board Elections This December

The Massachusetts Brewers Guild is seeking brewery owners and brewery staff who are ready to put their time, expertise, and passion for craft beer to work on behalf of our community.

Five seats on the MBG Board of Directors are up for election this December. All candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their priorities, and deliver their stump speeches at our December 7 member meeting at Brew Practitioners in East Longmeadow, MA.

Whether you bring experience in brewing, business operations, marketing, fundraising, government affairs, or community building, your perspective can help strengthen the Guild and guide its work.

Five Seats Up for Election

The following current board members are seeking reelection:

  • Treasurer Liz L’Etoile, The Brewery at Four Star Farms

  • Vice President Sarah Lee, Hendler Family Brewing Co.

  • Sarah Real, Hot Plate Brewing Co.

  • Erica Tritta, Twisted Fate Brewing Co.

  • Zuzy Zvarova, Boston Beer Co.

Additional candidates are encouraged to apply. The Guild welcomes members who want to take a more active role in supporting Massachusetts breweries and shaping the organization’s priorities.

Who Should Consider Running?

Strong candidates are already engaged in the MBG community: attending member meetings, participating in festivals and fundraisers, supporting Guild initiatives, and building relationships with fellow members.

The nominating committee will look for a demonstrated commitment to the organization, a collaborative approach, and a willingness to serve the broader craft beer community. The Guild also seeks to strengthen the board’s geographic representation and bring together a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and professional skills.

As our industry navigates change, an engaged board is essential to helping the MBG advocate for its members, provide meaningful resources, and serve as a unified voice for Massachusetts craft beer.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and a letter of intent by November 11 to MBG Executive Director Katie Stinchon at Katie@massbrewersguild.org.

Your letter should address:

  • Why do you want to join the MBG Board of Directors?

  • Realistically, how much time can you dedicate to the organization each month?

  • Which committee would you like to support: Marketing, Events, Government Affairs, or Membership?

  • What issues, goals, or changes would you like to help the Guild address?

Candidates should plan to attend the December 7 member meeting at Brew Practitioners to speak before the membership.

What Does Board Service Involve?

Board service is an active commitment. Members are expected to:

  • Attend six board meetings annually, approximately 90 minutes each.

  • Participate in at least one committee, helping drive goals and complete tasks.

  • Support MBG events, programs, and initiatives through participation.

  • Stay informed about issues affecting the Guild and the brewing community.

  • Listen respectfully, collaborate with fellow board members, and support board decisions.

  • Represent the interests of the full membership.

  • Protect confidential information, disclose conflicts of interest, and abstain from related discussions or votes when appropriate.

  • Provide responsible oversight of the Guild’s finances, mission, and long-term health while respecting the executive director’s role in managing daily operations.

In return, the Guild is committed to keeping board members informed, providing the information needed to fulfill their responsibilities, and maintaining directors’ and officers’ liability insurance.

Make Your Voice Count

Paid brewery members will have the opportunity to vote this December to fill all five seats. If you are unsure of your membership standing, please contact Katie before the election.

Not Ready to Run? Join a Committee!

You don’t have to hold a board seat to help shape the future of the MBG. Joining a committee is a great way to share your expertise, connect with fellow members, and make a meaningful contribution to the Massachusetts craft beer community.

Our Marketing, Events, Government Affairs, and Membership committees offer opportunities to get involved, learn more about the Guild’s work, and build experience for a future leadership role.

Interested in finding the right fit? Reach out to Katie Stinchon at Katie@massbrewersguild.org.

Our Guild is strongest when our members take an active role. We hope you’ll consider lending your voice, skills, and energy to the work ahead.
